A Birthday

A Birthday
By. Christina Rossetti
My heart is like a singing bird
Whose nest is in a water'd shoot;
My heart is like an apple-tree
Whose boughs are bent with thickset fruit;
My heart is like a rainbow shell
That paddles in a halcyon sea;
My heart is gladder than all these,
Because my love is come to me.
Raise me a dais of silk and down;
Hang it with vair and purple dyes;
Carve it in doves and pomegranates,
And peacocks with a hundred eyes;
Work it in gold and silver grapes,
In leaves and silver fleurs-de-lys;
Because the birthday of my life Is come,
my love is come to me.

.
This poem is very sweet and lovely. In this poem, the birthday compared to love.
I think it is metaphor. In this poem, there are many figure of speeches such as
personification and metaphor. While I was reading this poem, I was able to feel sense of love.
I could feel what love is.

The Road not Taken --Robert Frost

The Road not Taken
--Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
During I reading it, I felt two different things which are adventagies Dependent or Independent
The poem says, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not travel both and be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.” According to this verse, in all events there are choices that you can choose. And there are advantages and disadvantages of each event.
The advantages of conformity are learning society and cooperation, making friends and so on. Also you can feel that you are part of the people. School is the best example. You can feel that actually Korean school, because students who are attending Korean schools have to wear school uniforms to think they are a little social group. Also the military is one of the examples of it. The advantages of dissension are creating your own ideas, expressing and showing individuality. This leads to individual character new experiences. The poem written by Robert Frost says, “I shall be telling this with a sigh somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” Therefore if you choose and go through the road that people don’t go, you can find there are new things that can change your life. You also can be the first man who goes the new way like the poem. These are your choices.
The disadvantages of conformity are that you cannot express your individual character. You also have to keep the rules that the group of people made. But I think these are not bad things. Also, the disadvantages of dissension are that you can’t lean how to act as one of the members of groups. Sometimes, you can have a very hard time, because you can go wrong way. For example, when one wild goose separates from the flock of wild geese, the flock of wild geese goes to a new area to live, and the goose is wrong and ignores the rule.
